Comfort Colors Shirts: What They Are and When to Choose Them
Comfort Colors tees have a softer, lived-in look you'll see on a lot of bachelorette and senior shirts. Here's what makes them different and when they're worth it.

If you've shopped for bachelorette or senior shirts lately, you've probably seen "Comfort Colors" in the product name. It's a brand of garment-dyed cotton tees, chosen for shirts people want to keep wearing long after the event.
Here's what makes them different, the colors on our designs, and when they're worth choosing over a standard tee.
What Comfort Colors shirts are
- Heavyweight, 100% ring-spun cotton. The fabric is thicker and softer than a basic tee.
- Garment-dyed. The shirt is sewn first and dyed afterward, which gives the color a soft, slightly vintage look and keeps shrinkage minimal.
- Relaxed fit. A roomier, boxier cut than a fitted tee.
- Built to last, with a classic crew neck and sturdy stitching.
One thing to know: because each shirt is dyed as a finished garment, shades can vary slightly from one shirt to the next. That variation is part of the look.
The 17 Comfort Colors on our designs
Black, Midnight, Pepper, Red, Light Green, Espresso, Sandstone, Yam, Crimson, Moss, Blue Jean, Violet, Gray, Bay, Blossom, Ivory and White.
A few that work especially well together:
- Earthy: Sandstone, Moss, Espresso and Yam, for fall trips and cabin weekends
- Soft brights: Blossom, Light Green, Violet and Blue Jean, for bachelorettes and spring breaks
- Classics: Pepper, Ivory, Black and White, for anything
When to choose Comfort Colors
- Bachelorette weekends and girls' trips, where the shirt doubles as an outfit. See our bachelorette party shirts.
- Senior shirts, which get worn all year and signed at the end of it. See our senior 2027 shirts.
- Gifts: a personalized tee someone will wear on weekends, not just on the day.
- Everyday wear: the heavier fabric and relaxed fit feel like a favorite old tee from day one.
When a standard tee is the better pick
- Big family orders, where cost adds up across twenty or thirty shirts.
- Kids: the Comfort Colors option on our designs is adult sizes only (S to 3XL), while the standard design runs from baby bodysuits to adult 4XL.
- Exact color matching across a big group, since garment-dyed shades vary slightly.
Matching kids with Comfort Colors adults
Put the adults in Comfort Colors and the kids in the standard youth or toddler tee of the same design, in a color with a similar tone:
- Comfort Colors Pepper or Gray with a heather gray kids' tee
- Ivory with a white or sand kids' tee
- Crimson or Red with a red kids' tee
- Blue Jean with a navy or royal kids' tee
The design is the same, so the family still matches in photos.
Sizing and care
Comfort Colors tees have a relaxed fit: stay with your usual size for a roomy look, or size down for a closer fit. Measure a tee you like and compare it with our size guide.
To keep the color and print looking good, wash inside out in cold water and tumble dry low or hang dry; our care guide has the details.
