Senior night is the last home game of a senior's season, when they're walked onto the field or court with their family and announced one last time. It's part celebration, part goodbye, and families photograph it from start to finish.
Here's how to make it special, from matching shirts to posters, gifts and a simple timeline.
When senior night happens
Most sports and activities hold one near the end of the regular season:
- Fall: football, volleyball, soccer, cross country, cheer and marching band
- Winter: basketball, wrestling, swimming, dance
- Spring: baseball, softball, track, lacrosse, tennis
Check the schedule early; the date is usually set by the coach or the booster club.
Shirts for the whole family
Matching shirts make the family easy to spot during the walk-out and in every photo.
- For the senior: a Class of 2027 shirt with their name, like our Twenty 27 senior shirt, for the pre-game photos.
- For parents: the same design with "Senior Mom", "Senior Dad" or the senior's name and number in the text line (up to 33 characters on our senior designs).
- For siblings and grandparents: youth and toddler sizes of the same design, with "Senior Sister" or "Proud Grandma".
- For teammates: a team shirt with every senior's number for the underclassmen to wear.
Pick the team's colors so the family matches the uniforms. Browse all senior 2027 shirts.

Poster and sign ideas
- A big-head cutout of the senior's face on a stick: easy to see from anywhere.
- The jersey number in huge letters with their name and class year.
- "Then and now": a photo from their first season next to one from this year.
- Their stats or favorite moment, if they'd enjoy it.
- A line from the family: "We're proud of you, #12."
Keep lettering big and high-contrast; posters are read from thirty rows away.
Gift ideas
- Flowers: a bouquet for the walk-out, or a single rose for each senior from the team
- A framed photo from their first and last seasons
- A letter from the family, written ahead so it isn't rushed
- A personalized hoodie or shirt with their number and class year
- A keepsake box for their jersey, medals and programs
A simple timeline
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| 6 weeks out | Confirm the date; decide on shirts and posters as a family or team |

| 2 weeks out | Make posters; buy flowers or gifts |
| 1 week out | Try on shirts; plan who walks with the senior |
| The night | Arrive early for photos; bring tissues |
Walk-out tips for parents
- Know where to line up and who's walking with your senior.
- Stand on the side facing the stands so photos show your family's faces.
- Keep shirts visible: jackets open, bags on the other shoulder.
- Look at your senior, not the phone. Ask a friend to take the pictures.
