Matching Family Cruise Shirts: Funny Sayings and Ideas for Your Crew

Anyone who has waited at a cruise terminal knows the scene: thousands of people, one gangway, and at least one family member wandering off to find coffee. Matching cruise shirts solve a surprising number of problems — your group is easy to spot, your photos look planned, and the shirts become the best souvenir of the trip.

Here are design ideas, 60 sayings and practical tips for wearing them on board.

Cruise shirt themes that work

Cruise squad

The classic cruise shirt: "Cruise Squad" with the year, a ship graphic, and often each person's name or role. Our Cruise Squad 2026 family shirt and the retro sunglasses cruise shirt are easy picks — they work for every age.

Most likely to — cruise edition

Everyone wears the same design, but each shirt finishes "most likely to…" differently. It's a guaranteed laugh at the muster drill. Our most likely cruise squad shirt lets you choose a line for each person. See every design on our most likely to shirts page.

Long sleeves for cooler cruises

Sailing somewhere chilly, or just cold in the air-conditioned dining room? A long-sleeve cruise squad shirt keeps the theme going on deck.

Birthday cruises

Sailing for someone's birthday? Our birthday cruise shirts give the crew a matching squad shirt and the birthday person their own line, and our birthday cruise shirt ideas have 45 sayings.

When to wear matching shirts

You don't need to wear them every day. Most families plan one or two matching moments:

1. Embarkation day. Everyone is together and excited, and the photos at the port are some of the best of the trip. Matching shirts also make your group easy to spot in the terminal.
2. A shore excursion. In a busy port or on a tour, a bright matching group is much easier to keep together — especially with kids.
3. A sea day. Perfect for a relaxed group photo on deck.

Tip: pack each person's matching shirt in the top of their carry-on or day bag for embarkation day. Checked luggage can take hours to reach your cabin.

Colors that work at sea

Bright colors — royal blue, deep teal, red or pink — pop against the ocean and make your group easy to spot. White looks crisp in sunny photos, and a mix of colors from the same palette photographs beautifully on deck.
